For my entry to the Uncontest Contest of Anthony Biaanco, I am submitting one of the 23 poems I faved of this author since I met him at Soup in 2010. I remember when I first got to know Daver, he would tease me that he was 100 years old. He was always writing about getting old, and now I understand even more accutely the feelings in his poems.

Three poems of his, in addition to the ones I show here, are also very beautiful poems. "Brother - Billy" is the oldest poem of his I faved. It is so deep and mysterious, I am not sure I ever really "got" it and yet it just really tugged at me. It was probably my most favorite of all and appeared in his list in 2008. "September Song" from 9/9/9 is a real treat for me as it's my birthday month and Daver's triple tanka about september are gorgeous. "85th Birthday -Journal 1X " is from 7/20/14. If anyone wants to read these poems, you only have to type in his name and go to the page for these years when he wrote the poems.

When Daver wrote "The Absent Years" he was still five years away from his death, which occurred in the summer of 2017. I cannot choose really my favorite among the 23 I faved of his, for I love them all. Here is one little poem he wrote just for me, and this one the sponsor of the uncontest will not see. I wish I could show even more of what Daver wrote. please visit his poetry!

DREAM CATCHER

Lover of the sonnet she

And fond also of Etheree

Has her certain way with words

That one may catch semantically

I ken she is a kindred soul

Our lineal eddies mingle flow

And seek out those who listen close

That we all might dream-catching go

His words about dying are particularly poignant in this memorial to his talent and kind soul. I hope from this that more than a few of us will visit his writings that remain on Soup for us to discover.

I wondered where Daver went. I was in and out of hospital for awhile and was very sporadic in coming on line. So sad to know he has passed on. I feel as though I have lost a good friend. God Bless, JB

I know how special Daver was to you, and you to him. I can see it in the affectionate comments you wrote after reading each other's poetry. I'm truly sorry you have lost a good friend and PS has lost a wonderful poetic voice. Thank you for putting him in the spotlight, Andrea. Hugs ~ John
