Dark Winds Over America
We feel the shadows
growing over our fair land
A land which should show
it's power and glory to the world
A sinister chill in the air
as the land becomes engulfed in racial and religious strife
Dark winds over America
Shining lights in our harbors
are dimmed by clouds of fear
as jets fly over
our cities
our hopes freeze
and will be remain frozen
until the warmth of fellowship
and reconciliation
becomes one with
the mountains and valleys of our land
until joyous song resounds from
the cities, the farms
and fields and the mountains of America - this experiment in democracy
which has endured for a couple of centuries so far
