Dark Love

love the night, the lack of glare, the subtle sounds the hoot of owl and the warm street light, oh love, love the blue black all around my heart pounds my blood rushes firecrackers fly above moon captured, Japanese lanterns on a string jewel gingerbread houses lullaby winds the stroke of love as it laps the church bell's ring love the down comforters nighttime's soft grin love the punched hole made with a pin on black to view the eclipse while the sun takes nap cherish the silhouette dark paper unpacked images of lovers ones all unwrapped
*Without the dark, we wouldn't see the stars.* 10/20/13

Reminds me of a poem I've written but never posted or shared, about luring the moon into my room and warning the morning to stay out of sight. Maybe I should find that one and post it. Loved this work, Debbie :)

Some really gorgeous lines in this one, Debs. I loved the one: "nighttime's soft grin" and "love as it laps" too!!!

There's 3 poems here, the original format is quatrains with the end rhyme [a,b,a,b/c,d,c,d/e,f,e,f] since the judge favors rhyme - I would call this a NONCE FORM - a nonce form is generally created by a poet for a specific poem but which may, over time, and with repeated usage by subsequent poets, become a "received form." Enjoy! Light & Love

Yes, I love the nighttime, too! I love the sound of the owls. I love the glow of the moon and the stars. The night seems to have more of a serene and cozy feeling, that day does not. Wonderful poetry, Debbie! I wish you the best of luck in the contest!...Thank you very much for the kind comments!

Wonderful!! I love these images of night, Debbie! I've always been a night owl, myself...I wanted to thank you for reading and commenting on my ghazal. I'm going to try to write another as you suggested just to challenge myself. Love and blessings, Rhonda

love this one...I am afraid of the dark at time...I love seeing the moon and hearing owls and the crickets singing in night's air...yet the lack of light, lets the imagination run wild sometimes...good poem Debbie...love your images In this one :) hugs
