Daggers
Within Her Eyes
Memories come fleeting again.
The daggers return lashing back.
For a moment I thought I saw you.
Within her eyes, staring, blank face.
What happened to your conscience?
No answer to the question, but is the answer,
To all the pain endured and survived.
The scroll of scars on a broken heart.
You were a thief who stole my safety.
I was your scapegoat, speaking truth.
Now able to stand as memories pass.
Gifts given to myself that you couldn’t give
Unwrapped by my soul, I am free to be me.
