Daddy Never Comes
Four year old girl at window seat
Pressing her face up against the cold glass
A December day, almost Christmas
She waits for her Daddy
The favorite person in her life
Five o’clock, the best time of day for her
There is no explanation but Daddy never arrives
The girl waits every day at the window, hoping.
The mother in her grief, has forgotten she has a daughter
A drunk driver has taken the light from their world
Still the girl waits, hopeful, every day, never giving up
like her mother.
