Cupid Shot My Wife
Cupid shot my wife
when she was just a maiden.
And now we're both as married
with children she has laden.
I'd offer up my thanks
to Cupid and his bow.
But rather I was single
than have a wife in tow.
I must regret my children.
My only passions burned.
I taught them what I know
becoming only spurned.
I missed the many years
I spent in serving others.
with all my freedom lost
A life that only smothers.
I've wondered how a baby
that only wears a diaper
could always break my will
and leave me rank and hyper.
If he were more reserved
I'd surely play around.
While likely loving many
than one that Cupid's found.
I wish him only peace
Just what I'd want myself.
but if he'd turn back time
we both be more ourself.
