Cries of the Unborn
I can't get to sleep right now ...
there's no mystery why
Got thunder crashing and
lightning flashing in the sky
And there are frail whimpers
coming from the nursery in my heart,
I can hear my unborn baby cry ...
there's no mystery why
I'm simply another sad, phantom father,
whose conscientious objections got overruled
I understand I have no right
to dictate how a woman should regulate
her own body ... it's her life
The final choice is hers, and hers alone
I merely entered a plea;
asking her to open her spiritual ears,
and hear the unborn baby crying
She just laughed me to scorn,
and said ain't no baby gonna be born ---
the abortion will be performed!
My worst nightmare happened yesterday,
now I can't get to sleep at night ...
and there's no mystery why
My unborn baby keeps me up with her cries
