Commencement
A ticket, perhaps, to the rest of your life,
And new kind of status' like husband or wife,
You've dreamed of it coming, and now it is here,
The clan has all gathered, but is something *****?
The future's wide open, your ship's safe at sea,
But first port of call still seems fuzzy to me,
Sea lanes mostly open, your cargo's your choice,
And all that you're lacking's decision and voice.
Dip quill in the inkwell and pen your first rhyme,
The words that you're missing will flourish in time,
Decision tree's branches all point to new land,
Weigh anchor and farewell; your time is at hand!
In life, as in art, give respect to what's next,
Book learning is fine, but worms live on old text,
Let others sweat details. Man sails! Catch the breeze!
Enjoy life's adventure and go where you please.
It's rare that man's courage puts him in a box.
More frequent discovery? He was a fox!
So trust intuition, don't live in the shade,
The world will soon marvel! Friend you've got it made!
If faith has a season, then let this be yours,
Today start your "magical mystery tours,"
Commencement will mark well the love that you spend,
God blessing His servant and all you intend!
