Coming To Papa
She comes to me with tear-stained eyes
Snuggles close and gently sighs,
“He said to me,” she whispered low,
“I do not love you. I must go.”
I put my arms around her,
I held her tight.
I told her he was probably not her kind
A finer young man soon she would find
“Another time, another place,” she agreed,
I knew her heart was breaking, indeed.
I put my arms around her,
I held her tight.
It was like when she was a little squirt
Coming to papa when her heart was hurt,
The joy of my life is being there for her
My eyes welled up, my words were a blur.
I put my arms around her,
I held her tight.
