Come Out and Play, You Creatures of the Night

Come out and play, you creatures of the night. Outside into the woods I want to go and see a white tailed deer, a sheer delight to catch sight of a doe in moon’s soft glow. I want to glimpse a badger or raccoon. Come out and play, you creatures of the night while in the background, crickets chirp their tune, and lightning bugs flash signals small and bright. To spy a wolf, I’d feel a bit of fright, especially if it were to start to howl! Come out and play, you creatures of the night. But not you wolves! I’d rather spot an owl! Oh, yes, an owl would please me to no end - one wide awake like me and snowy white! Perhaps I’d make of him my new best friend. Come out and play, you creatures of the night. Greetings, Andrea. Congratulations on your first place in C.T. contest. I love your Quatern with its vivid images of the woods. As you step into the forest, you sense the danger of the wolves, but rather spot an owl instead...this gentle creature that could be your friend. It's a lovely story told with wisdom and tenderness. Be proud of your achievement, my sweet friend. Enjoy your weekend. : ) God loves you. Hugs, Andrew.

I love this write! It's not often enough do I think of these creatures, with the exception of when they get noisy and rambunctious. A clever thought to mull over today, thank you Andrea! Keep well and stay your very special self! Hugs, Mikki

Nice write about the nocturnal animals that roam around here. Skunks are included among their number. I see plenty of them when I am around and about between 3 AM and 5 AM each morning.

Charming write your creatures of the night. Love it. We feed stray kitties on the front porch and from time to time a possum or a raccoon will decide to feast. The cats all stand aside and watch. I'd love to see a snowy owl some night or even a rabbit. Love, daver

My late father liked owls - had some carvings of them on the wall and a small statue. Did you ever read Saki? He had a story in which the last word was "wolves" Please let me know what you think of "Paranoid Vistas" Peace & Love Matthew Anish

Beautiful Andrea. I used to love to walk in the wee hours of the morning when I had my two big dogs to go with me. Since they are gone I stay home and miss them but it was great seeing night hawks, bats, rabbits and other creatures. The Snowy Owl is beautiful and there used to be a family of them not far from here. God Bless, JB

Hi Andrea, another excellent write from your pen. I Love the way you gently play with Nature Andrea. "Come out and play, you creatures of the night." Wonderful the way you did build your piece. The night can be beautiful when seen through your eyes my friend. Your words do paint an excellent canvas. This one has to be a seven Andrea. Hugs....Mike. XX

Ooohh I love to go exploring at night ... especially now where there is much more to see, and when the moon is out with no clouds in sight. There is nearly always something whimsical and charming about the way you write, Andrea ... I love to hear the bullfrogs. P.S. I always thought it was spelled "lightning" bugs ... ?
