Colour of My Heart

Will we ever grasp the absurdity
Of our vanity showing disrespect
For our planet’s wholesome diversity
With lessons barely learnt in retrospect

Audacity shamefully outrageous
Arrogance beyond wild insanity
With consequences least ambiguous
Undermining their brutal gravity

Should we not reinvest our planet’s love
Carefully fostering by any means
Earth’s lavish bounty and beauty above
Nurturing purity of blues and greens

Harmony with nature engenders art
Thus reflecting the color of my heart

Congratulations Line on your first place award. Enjoyed your rhyming sonnet on an important topic to the entire planet. Some think technique is more important than content, I am not one of those. Your technique is splendid and I particularly applaud your choice of content. Bravo.

Hi Line, your poem addresses a topic near to my own heart and when you speak of "reinvesting our planet's love," nothing could be more true. The resources provided to us are many and it would be shameful to squander them. For the sake of all our ancestors, let's try to keep the natural beauty. A wonderful entry for John's contest and I wish you well. Hugs, Carolyn

For sure... but you know that someone is figuring out how to make money from this downfall at this very moment. Thanks for your much appreciated visit, Sand.

I wish we understood the absurdity of our vanity, and we learned the lessons taught to us so succinctly by our arrogance and audacity. This poem is a winner. Yes, we should reinvest our planet's love, instead of killing it not so softly.

Indeed not so softly. Thanks for your much appreciated visit and comment, Caren.

Well, Line, it's quite obvious to me that you're writing about the care humans should give our planet in order to protect it and keep the oceans blue and the flora, green. Some people might want to think about what they comment before leaving their words on written page. This is more than ok in my eyes. Well done.
