Color Me - the Future Is Coming
Color me gray, so sad these dreary days
Doom and gloom pervade the conversation
Too much talk of the “coming” apocalypse
Not enough attention paid to the positive,
The future that is coming.
Color me green, alive to earth’s changes
Awareness of the need for global unity
To face the inevitable changes we can see
Let us not divide politically, but embrace
The future that is coming.
Color me blue, a bright cerulean shade
Keeping my eyes on positive goals
Determined to make my little sphere
Of influence purer, more ethical, for
The future that is coming.
Color me black, that I may empathize
With those who struggle every day
To be loved, accepted, appreciated, their
Contributions make a better society, and
The future that is coming.
Color me red, so that I may recognize
The sacrifices of our American heroes
Who shed their blood, gave precious lives
On faraway, foreign battlefields to insure
The future that is coming.
