Collision and Release
a roar that swallows
the petty grievances of shore
white teeth gnashing
at the stubborn sand
each surge a lifetime
beginning in the deep
cresting with furious purpose
then surrendering
to the inevitable pull back
a rhythm ancient
predating our hurried steps
a constant reshaping
of what we thought was fixed
the salt-laced air
a primal breath
carrying the weight
of untold journeys
of ships splintered
of secrets dragged down
we stand at the edge
drawn by the raw power
a reminder of forces
untamed, unconcerned
with our small dramas
only the endless
collision and release.
