Cold Turkey Lover

If love is like a drug, as said, I guess she must have made me high; this junkie took his fix in bed and thought, I'm hooked until I die. But after highs, I hit a low, and craved her loving drug again; one awful day, she told me 'no': I'd never felt such wretched pain. I did cold turkey for a while and begged her for another fix: no love, no kisses, nor a smile; she said, 'I'm sick of turning tricks.' My memories are clouded, black, of love that made my life a hell; but now I'm clean and can't go back: addiction's over; all is well. for Sara's Love Heroin contest

Dear Jack, I wasn't familiar with the contest and was seeing this in a different light until I saw the name of the contest. How profound it is that this poem can be taken at least two ways and still have such intense emotion. Bravo!

This is really good, Jack!! I like the creative content, and the rhyming is doubly smooth. I also see a worthy winner! ~ Regards // paul
