Closet Sickness

Clothes hang prickly and wild— The kind diamond smell of her Spreads in a blocked out sky's room, Faint earth in bursting skeleton bones. The kind diamond smell of her, A true prism on the walls, Faint earth in bursting skeleton bones— Little girl with safety pins in her glass. A true prism on the walls Spreads in a blocked out sky's room, Little girl with safety pins in her glass— Clothes hang prickly and wild.

Paige, the combination of the dimly lit room, the distinctive scent, and the unexpected presence of a safety pin all contribute to the captivating nature of this poem.

The only way to know what a good person looks like, is to to have felt the latter. I wish you peace! This is the first feeling that came to mind as I read this. If I could comfort just one person, from such feelings, maybe I would have purpose! That was the second that it invoked. Hugs...Warmly A.S.

a faintly dark and moving poem--one that created dis-ease as I read it. Being confined unnerves that tiny part of me that's a tad claustrophobic. Sometimes we have to feel uncomfortable to move past even our metaphorical discomforts. Masterfully done, Paige!

Dear Paige, The imagery is striking, especially the contrasting textures. It creates a strong sense of unease and confinement. The repetition of "The kind diamond smell of her" feels haunting, hinting at a complex relationship and its lingering impact. The final line raises intriguing questions about vulnerability and hidden struggles. Overall, the poem creates a powerful, lingering impression, inviting me the reader to delve deeper into the unspoken story. - Blessings, Daniel
