Notes About The Poem

just another LAWLESS SONNET.....

Clean up on aisle six

I shall write of fading distant things
Of silenced bells, birds without wings
Of time, that metronomic dunce
Who lives its moments all at once

I’ll view this masterpiece I’ve painted
Slightly perfect, slightly tainted
Leave it to you to gauge the hues
Of struggling artists paying dues

Upon them I have placed my mark
Both heaven light and hellish dark
For each pursues the shredded truth
Of tarnished age and stumbling youth

Of dreams released and dreams contained
A perfect life still slightly stained

Such an exciting read, full of poetry excitement in terms of rhyme, tightness, imagery, delivery and more. Like a pizza lover, I feel I just got one with everything I love on it. But my enthusiasm for your poem does not suit the emotional content, an unveiling of your rawness throbbing between each line like an x-ray of your vulnerable depth while on your deathbed. I hope you are well and will be back.

Well done, John; a perfect life is perhaps slightly stained -- truth requires bravery. A Perfect POTD!

Life is like an oxymoron juxtaposing opposites of joy and sorrow, light and darkness. A beautiful poem, dear John.
