Our country was founded
On concepts, enchanted,
Still, we all, to this day ...
Take so much for granted.
We subsist in a nation,
Where a gripe or confession,
Can be stated in public ...
Without fear of repression.
But this sacrosanct liberty
Is now used as a tool ...
By those whose objectives,
Are hateful and cruel.
I fear that our founders,
Didn't quite have in mind,
The way their amendment
Has been boldly maligned.
We've lauded our Fathers'
Decrees for free speech,
Still a caveat, priceless,
We don't always teach.
That whatever you utter,
Detrimental or good ...
Because you CAN say it,
Doesn't mean ...
That you SHOULD.
