Circles

Try to imagine a fish that’s all alone I’m swimming in circles In my tiny goldfish bowl An aquarium Is what I dream of Eternally And there’s a big square box Beneath the tree And it’s addressed to me The label says Happy Christmas Goldie From your family It’s Christmas

Terry, congratulations on your win in my Can You Imagine contest with this wonderful poem, I like it and although I usually do not place poems posted as I Don't Know, your poem was deep and appealed to me _Constance

Thanks Constance. I thought the ‘I don’t know’ would be a killer, but I just couldn’t fit it to any style I know (frankly I’m not too up on poetry types). Delighted you liked it and thanks for the placing. Terry.

As I told Alexis, it’s been in my head in one form or another for some time... just never written down. To be honest, I wasn’t sure people would even like it, so thanks Tom. Terry

WoW! Terry, Good take on the contest theme. A fish all alone in each setting would be sad. Best wishes in the contest. Have a great evening- Alexis

Thanks, Alexis. This has buzzed around in my mind for some years as a radio ad for my previous business (aquarium supplies) more or less to the tune of ‘Lonely this Christmas’. I always found it difficult to type out in a format that gave some idea of its metre/tempo. Decided to bring it into the real world, with a tweak or two. I just wish I knew what ‘poetry type’ it might be considered to be. Thanks again. Terry
