For Miranda Hawley's - Rest of the story poetry contest

Cinderella thought she had found her Prince Charming, but arriving at the palace was a bit alarming. Cinderella found it rather absurd, how each room had women from all over the world. Then he gave her a dustpan and sweeping brush, told her: "Clean the kitchen and then make sure the toilets flush." Now Cinders, had just escaped her ugly sisters, she was a bit fed up of cleaning with blisters. What ever happened to their 'happily ever after?' Her dreams of love had turned into a total disaster. Now there's only so far you can push someone, all a girl wants is to be free and to have some fun. There was no way she was going to live in another hell, gathered all the other women and pleaded: "Lets rebel." They all got together with their sticks and brooms, told Prince Charming he can clean his own rooms! He spent all day scrubbing the toilets clean - whilst Cinderella sat on the throne as queen.

Cleverly done, this is in amazing spin, Cinderella fights for equality, womans rights after her Prince reveals himself a cruel dictator, her worst nightmare, hell's castle of slavery and cruelty. I enjoyed this tale. Congratulations!

Silent One, it's wonderful that you can take this tale and foster some sense of freedom and equality for women. You did a better job in this one poem than many do in books, essays, documentaries, and films. Really phenomenal! It should be the union organizers red book!

Wow! Silent One this is a fantastic take on Cinderella’s story. A disappointment for Prince Charming, but Cinderella got herself a useful fella who would happily clean thrones fit for his Queen… Beryl

I was thinking maybe Cinderella was Emmeline Pankhurst's great, great great ......grandmother, ....although it seems women were told by their families or Godparents, not to accept been subordinate to men from way back in history. Love these famous children's stories/rhymes being retold SO. Such a moral can be learnt from this tale. I have written a poem called WHAT NOW CINDERELLA. Hugs, blessings Jennifer.

This is smartness to the core! What a twist you have given to the Cinderella tale. The Prince Charming deserves such a treatment. If one has guts, he/she needn't suffer eternally. It teaches another lesson... Unity is strength! I greatly enjoyed your sense of humor, dear Silent one.

An early feminist, I can see here, a belief in fairness, dignity and justice for all, regardless of royal dominance. Great poem dear. Wish you luck in the contest...Hugs

haha. He must have been like those kings of old who have many wives. Great ending you did for yours, having the women all revolt. It's sad that more of us women do not get together to help each other out in this world. I really liked your story.

With a whimsical twist on the timeless tale of Cinderella, one is reminded of the limits that burden the human psyche, before it inevitably revolts. A moment of uproarious mirth is elicited as the narrative takes an unexpected turn in its final verse. These enchanting fables often conceal a treacherous facade. Yet, the harsh reality lies in the revelation that Cinderella herself must confront: her prince, it turns out, within the walls of his opulent castle.

Hilarious take on the Cinderella story, SO. Only so much a human mind can take--before it rebels. A laugh out loud moment as the story turns in the ending stanza.

Lol its quite funny to be honest, what a twisted tale of cinderella this is! You seem inspired to do these. Growing up cinderella was my fave really. And these fairytales can be quite deceitful! I mean so many little girls keep thinking they will find their charming prince to save them when truth can be ugly; imagine cinderella having to find out that the prince had so many other women from all over the world in his castle, castle of slavery? Sad! And what a powerful and unexpected ending
