Christmas With Grandma In Germany
Let’s go to Germany she said, over Christmas, it will be terrific!
The children were against it. They wanted Grandma.
We will take her! Mom announced. Grandma was reluctant.
But Mom was assertive, and Dad was insistent so off they went.
Germany was full of castles and knights and kings and Kris Kringles.
The people were friendly, and interested in the Americans.
The food was tasty; luckily, they had been savvy enough to bring salt.
Grandma was excited, for her ancestors had come from Germany.
Things were pretty wonderful, but they quickly went to fabulous.
They had walked into a German bakery, not realizing
This was the home of the most glorious gingerbread castle village!
It was known world-wide.
The children took selfies of each other, and Grandma wrote a poem.
Mom and Dad bought tasty pastry goodies, and the world was sweeter.
Let’s go to Germany every year! Grandma said. They all laughed.
It was their last year with Grandma, but the best Christmas ever!
