I'm trudging over sand dunes in an unfamiliar land. And yet, I'm thinking of snow, and of Christmas far away. Desert sands steal every tear, mocking my heartache and pain. And its oppressive silence is mentally deafening. Memories of home haunt me, like caroling and dad's laugh. And an old fashion fireplace, with socks, stuffed full of goodies. Dazzled by a shooting star, I make a wish as it falls. For mom said, "when lost, look up and let the stars guide you home." (Blank Verse) 11/7/2017

I'm sure spending Christmas in Afghanistan would make anyone nostalgic just thinking how good we have it here. Excellent subject, Emile.
