The Clock is a film by video artist Christian Marclay. It is a looped 24-hour video supercut (montage of scenes from film and television) that feature clocks or timepieces. The artwork itself functions as a clock: its presentation is synchronized with the local time, resulting in the time shown in a scene being the actual time.

written just before going to sleep the actual time is merely a notion to see time as an experience elevates watching time becomes hypnotic fixed for a moment, yet time happened, happens, happening I must and mustn't view it it'll take my minutes, I'll gift them for a seat I won't ask for them back, not in the moment but later, when I know how I spent it having gathered it up for calculation I'll question every second on repeat as my time is dragged from me is attention the theft of life did I wait, watch, wish it away it's up for grabs once a decision is made no one knows if I'll be there the minutes before the 7am alarm adding of rhyme the actual time is merely a notion tick tock tick tock - cogs in motion to see time as an experience elevates slow and steady revealer of fate watching time on repeat becomes hypnotic zone out periphery, forget it's chaotic time happened, happens, happening moving then arrival, ding, ding, ding I must and I mustn't view it not pausing except to sit it'll take my minutes, I'll gift them for a seat watch the future, underwhelming feat I won't ask for them back, not in the moment sit pondering my own enrolment but later, when I know how it was spent the guarantee is that I'll repent having gathered it up for calculation recognised the impact of deflation I'll question every second on repeat unable to get out of my once chosen seat as my time is dragged from me the reels are played and I see attention is the theft of life the opposite worse and sadly rife did I wait, watch, wish it away can I suddenly place myself back in a day living is up for grabs once a decision is made but first I fear all the plans need to be laid no one knows if I'll be there yet still I waste it by continuing to stare not sure I like the rhyme... may continue to edit

(Later, when I know how it was spent the guarantee is that I'll repent) I wonder how many of us will actually ponder the said same Dilly, that’s if we have enough time left of course lol! I actually like the contrast between the free verse and rhyme, a bit like the 12 and 24 hour clock, I often wonder if/how time perceives itself, or is it all just relative! thought provoking as always, cheers David. Captcha AMw, close enough lol!

Cheese always works for me Dilly, I agree you should revisit with a wired up mind and split open the persistence of time once and for all!

That's a fun concept 12/24 :) in unity with the poem I've just been too tired to go full throttle with this idea. I like it so much though that I'll perhaps revisit in the future (yeah). Just get that sense that I missed the point with this one, an illusive thought that would break it all open, maybe. Thanks for stopping by :) ahh I've got the words "time perceives itself" going round on loop now. If I were to take hallucinogenics I reckon I could go somewhere with that. I have eaten cheese before bed... Maybe that'll work :)

Atleast you just stare , completely, and thats how you think youv wasted time, theres worse, ways of wasting time when i think about it as i read this! Wow! You have some very profound and powerful phrases here depicting time and i see no reason why it should further be edited! Time youv spent on writing this is worthy, and looks like it did you good! A revealer of fate and poem happened! This is beyond clever and creative! The wordplay and the flow and everything that truly defines time! I love poems written on time! And you did awesome! Pleasure reading your poem! Sending you light always

I'm sure I've not done this art work justice as it sounds absolutely fascinating with each minute a time stamp and a short section of that film which creates a time appropriate mood. I feel like it would be wonderfully immersive. I like the idea of throwing into question what wasting time is - watching what is essentially a 24 hour clock would be, perhaps, or maybe it would be transcendence - like so much art is! Thank you for your words of encouragement, always appreciated :)
