"A guna is an attribute of nature, according to Hindu philosophy. In Hinduism, there are three gunas that have always existed in the world in both all living and non-living things:

  • Tamas (darkness, destructive, death)
  • Rajas (energy, passion, birth)
  • Sattva (goodness, purity, light)

In Sanskrit, the word, guna, can be translated in a variety of ways depending on the context. However, when referring to the three gunas of nature, guna means “string,” “quality,” or “virtue.”

By practicing yoga, it is believed that one can bring balance and harmony to the three gunas within oneself." (Source: yogapedia.com)

The Gunas out of which, Tamas stupor requires to awake, in shift of awareness pausing at Rajas aspect, whereupon we address our fears, mirroring desires and attachments, until Satvik stance becomes permanent. This vibrational ascent is our choice, attained by looking softly inwards, melding ego with glowing heart, as our total surrender, ever aglow, vibrant, centred in the void, devoid of fears and desires; our soul, free. 09-March-2021

Inward we go. That's where we discover our vibe, if I understand correctly. (Since I pray a lot, and sometimes cross over into meditation, this is somewhat familiar ground for this westerner). Lovely written Seeker! :) gw

Thanks Gershon! In both prayer and meditation, thoughts cease. With cessation, ego recedes. Thought rested awareness, comes forth in active cognition. Dwelling there, we open ourselves to the universe!
