Children In Safe-Keeping
Childhood is early years spent in life, but much too short the stay. In the family into which they were born, they crawl, then stand, walk on wobbly limbs, try running and failing, fall into the arms they trust. Children, each and every one, innocent and pure, they are gifts from God above, meant for us to protect and love. They do not see in black and white for their world is a prism of bright colors, centered around fathers and mothers.

Each new thing learned is an accomplishment. Eager is a child to please, for the want of praise in early days is innately born in their hearts. First words become a rattling of sentences describing cows grazing on a hill, a puppy wagging its rhythmic tail, or expressing fear over a thunderstorm. They are heedless of what lies beyond today, for tomorrow brings a new adventure, a quest they carry out. They've no idea what danger could be lurking, for the mind of a child hold no fear as they venture all about.

Days come and go; passing years bring joy and tears, uninhibited in the way of youth. If truth be told, it takes courage to allow them to make mistakes. I'd much rather shout, BEWARE! But what lessons would be learned if each undertaking, I would spurn? With prayer as a shield, I watch children grow. Little do they know yet what life ahead may hold. What's most important in a child's eyes is to know they are loved. That innocence they bear is something I wish I could hold within my heart. My words to each child would be given with a smile... "Go gently into the world. Let your heart guide you to where you belong. In your Father's safe keeping, I pray you will always stay."
