Cherry Picking

There was a time when cherry picking was a family affair, An excuse to get everyone out in the fresh air, No matter what they chose to wear. Now when we hear the phrase, It no longer brings to mind images of the fruit we praise, Or gives comfort to those with a family to raise. For all but a few country Bumkins, And those who still grow their own pumpkins, In its modern form it produces no healthy outcomes. Now that cherry picking is mostly virtual, Most things are not that factual, Except for the high price of real cherries which is actual.

Knock out last paragraph, superb. We really do not know each other in the virtual world.. we can pretend, and they believe. We also can harm others That’s the saddest part I find about the Internet ….PAIN. We have the opportunity to love, and we do not. Instead, we seem to be out to do one another IN alone, or form an army against them. Then, they write sonnets on love? Hypocrites to the max. Panagiota

I don't know if you read Jennifer Proximos from South Africa but it is people like he that give me hope. I wrote a poem called Hobbies revisited and she sent me hundreds of special stamps and first day covers for free. Thank you for your comments David in NZ

after dad died and mum was going into care I found my sister had already taken stuff she wanted without giving me a chance to see if i wanted anything. i would have loved the wooden paper knife that had cherries on the handle but of course that went along with the 'frog' stapler - little things but i never got a look in. 8 years since she died and she's disowned us all. sad isnt it. hgs jan xx

My sister hasn't even acknowledged mum passed away nor mum's sister 2 weeks later. she said she wants no contact with us and sent me a letter a few years ago saying she disowned the whole family. (despite mum and I handing over part of OUR inheritance to her - wills are complicated things lol) there will never be any contact now she has made her thoughts perfectly clear.

Feel humble you were comfortable sharing that. We can only hope that your sister changes her stance and realizes what she has lost. 8 years is a long time but all you can do is hope as in most cases like this from my personal experience it is likely that she is fooling herself if she thinks it has not cost her dearly. Did your Mother label things with name of ones things were supposed to go to. Anyway you have lots of friends on the soup to focus on. Best regards as always David in NZ.PS keep your poems coming and I will keep reading them.
