Captured
I stand on the deck, watching the last of the color
Hang on a bit longer, as if it doesn’t want to let go
Overcast skies turn gray all around the hill
But a chipmunk is chirping with something to say
Breaking the silence, in a continuous way
Bringing attention to the area near the stone wall
The ruffled leaves scattered about, lay still
As if time suddenly stopped without a frame
A picture captured is one more memory
And slowly, the moment is now filed within
