Can You Truly Be Irish

If you have never dreamed of the Irish flag Could you truly be Irish? Do you deserve to wear the colors on St. Patrick’s Day? The wearing of the green is serious. We are not joking. If you have never said “Erin go Braugh” are you Irish? If you have never eaten green eggs and ham are you Irish? If you have never thought “Ireland forever,” are you Irish? Do you deserve to enjoy March the 17th? Do you even know the story of St. Pat? We have to know more before you marry into our clan.

I discovered that I had Irish ancestors when I researched my family tree! We always thought we were mostly Scottish, but there he was... a great-great-grandfather from Northern Ireland! Since this discovery, I have learned a lot about Ireland, its people, its history and its wonderful customs. I appreciate this poem!
