Can I Say More

Can I Say More?
Although lovelier mind may exist somewhere else Does it promise like yours to add spice to dull eggs Or to flavor the air like crisp bacon than stirs in hot plans? Though woke senses may flagellate sea of day's birth And man's mind writes off even God's rainbow's soft curve As mere Physics, is Nature reduced to what man thinks it is? Oh, each day must be wed (though she'll never be mine) But forever I'm bound, flow with tides of a moon's orbit felt. Can a life form be sentient that's unaware of its roots, For whom meaning's a serviceable jar of orange mar- Malade slathered on toast that's hot buttered, still warm? I'm an alien planted perhaps just in time and not place, For the pilgrim who still treasures dreams of love found. Are there voices that float through the vacuum of space Free of ether's support, like the scar of a forest fire-felled, That reveals to a hiker new vistas once hidden by trees. Now, new paths found to goals on some landscape rain carves, With fresh growth spurred by ashes, seeds burned to new life A potential much greener than coal dares to dream In dark seams buried deep, though a plant's altered form, Carbon blended with rhyme might help man touch a star!
