Butterfly, a Beauty of Creation

a butterfly is a delicate darling
it is a miracle of grace
a dancing damsel 
arresting all the eyes

it reels on wings
of rainbow colors
brashly coquetting
on every flower
a wisp of loveliness,
floating like a dream
a flutter of colors, 
making every eye agleam

oh, matchless glory
heaven sent fairy
flitting amid emerald green
hovering under sapphire skies
why are you in such a hurry?
why sneak to an unknown territory?
are you rushing to meet your maids,
before they shut their dewy eyes?

frail is its frame
short is its sojourn
yet how glorious is its life
casting spells of delight in every heart!

Debra L Brown December 27, 2021 at 12:23 PM I enjoyed your poem.... Last year I had a Monarch Butterfly, Who enjoyed the hanging basket of petunias, I had hanging on the porch. He would greet me every morning while I water the pot of flower. After awhile he would follow to every pot around the yard, I use to call him, My friend.
