Buried Dreams
Watch that first step,
on your journey into the unknown
It's time for you to move out
into the world on your own
Show everyone how much you have grown
Transforming ...
adolescent to adult
This is a perilous time in your young life,
times that are fraught
with many temptations by liberty's casting call
New unrestrained freedom,
has you feeling like you can do it all
Have it all ... get away with it all
Every man-child needs to be taught,
that no thief thinks he's ever gonna get caught
On this journey into adulthood,
you're assured to have many failures and rejections
Take these lessons of life to heart,
but don't bury them too deep in your heart
Let the grave diggers you meet in life,
be able to easily carry your dead faults out
Let the risk takers you meet in life,
plant some new passion that will one day sprout
Let the love makers you meet in life,
infuse your soul with immunity from doubt ---
Love is the richest way out of spiritual poverty
But know this as well:
Prosperity of riches do have wings,
and everything you get in this life
ain't always a good thing
Now that you're traveling down this uncertain road
to nascent maturity ...
wisdom requires each morning,
that you know when to bury a bad dream
