Building Bridges
Song of hope, 'A Bridge Over Troubled Water'
I can't help myself; I have to sing along
With empathy and devotion for friends in need
I sing with emotion, the lyrics of this great song
How often I have been the one consoling
Drying tears from the sad eyes of a friend
Helping when they've grown tired and weary
suffering a broken heart that needed to mend
Feeling they were drowning in troubled waters
I soothed their bitter tears. We stood side by side
Together, a heart was healed by building a bridge
One that no pain could breach with its flowing tide
There were many times when I'd been down
in need of a good friend when things were bad
A hand to save me from the clutch of darkness
to pull me from the waters of an abysmal well
Those bridges we build over troubled waters
are friendships that comfort both heart and mind,
a shoulder we can cry on when times are hard
They're acts of kindness that friendship will bind
