this is by my hand a mark made, a soul's expression the temptation is to make too many but there's beauty in less machines can print copy after copy but where does that leave me come to me, see me where I stand maybe just a few would travel but it does away with the meaningless my soul's expression savoured there's a start and there's an end to be at the end yet see the beauty of the beginning that is art to always stand in that space of creation emotion flooding the senses from each brushstroke laid down you may then spend time with my soul and it may swirl upwards from your feet causing the room to disappear for it is more beautiful than the artist it is the essence - intoxicating more than 'I was here' I was in a moment scattered fragments remain the light came in captured before it was once again gone I'm glad you are here now for the light reflects back and it's beautiful Brian Strand Premiere 5th Place

A stunning poem DD, managing to enter ground zero at the time of creative ignition. Words have become brushstrokes in the magical process of making the ordinary, the most simple of things, into enduring art. Caught the mood...

Thank you Paul! And I wrote it whilst sat (not) watching a swimming lesson - inspiration strikes in funny places :) your comment is indeed valued, thank you.

Yes, it is beautiful - the thoughts...captured at least for a second?

I'm sure you'll recognise some of them - very distinctive. Thanks for your kind words

The irony in painting a brushstroke is sheer genius, certainly resonates (more than I was here) it’s almost a personalised logo, like the smiley face, but much more simple, bringing meaning to the meaningless is no mean task Dilly, excellent, cheers David

Separate from my poem but it used to fascinate me when I was younger that posh people forked out hard earned cash for such art - now I'm stood there saying how brilliant a single blank piece of paper is - actually maybe that's not yet been done and I should get in first!

an outstanding creation, Di11y! True about art...any artistic endeavor is to stand in that moment of creation, senses working overtime what you describe as the beauty of the beginning of art. I'm not familiar with this particular artist, but using his painting and him as the narrator was brilliant. I loved this one. Hope you have a pleasant evening, Sara

Thank you Sara, I've done a few by this artist. His style is very comic strip pop art. I enjoyed writing this one - we'll see what Brian makes of it for his contest x
