Broken Paint

We'd just layed down our first bricks Building a wall so that troubles we withstand But even before the wall dried up You were already jumping over it And it hurt like fresh steps on grass Cause we had just started walking this path Thinking that if we held hands the bond would be strong But I was the only sticking out my hand while yours slipped It's like what we had was old paint And you didn't want to put fresh paint on That's why even before it had a chance to dry up You already going back to your old ways, old paint It was still very wet, I sat here watching it dry How I wish I'd not fallen asleep, cause I don't understand why the cracks What made it to be broken paint And I'm hurt cause I'll have to let it dry For I can't just remove it I had too much invested And if it settles; the harder it will be to remove But I can't run over a new coat till I've scrabbed this off And when the broken paint is off I rather it stay nude till I figure out a new coat Cause I'm done changing coats I need good paint to withstand the long years ahead The PO£T
