Holding Charlie, who was 19 years old, 1990
For twenty years, he was my joy
a member of our family...
A living thing, my precious toy
with heart of gold, eyes just for me.
A stray he was midst fire debris.
For twenty years, he was my joy;
was rescued and brought home to be
my loving cat...a mama's boy.
My chin he'd stroke, so sweet and coy
each night when he curled up to sleep.
For twenty years, he was my joy;
at dawn, my cheek, he'd gently sweep.
That day did come to break my heart.
My dear, sweet Charlie, precious boy,
at our vet's office, we would part...
for twenty years, he was my joy.
