Broken-Hearted At Sunrise
The sun excitedly rose to the skies,
as though it had quenched its thirst
from my tears. The whole night I wept
for you, when you shut the door one last
time; you shut the door so hard that
my conscience shouted "This is It!"
deep within my soul.
You left me lonely and bruised,
tightly holding the sheets as though I had
a muscle pull in my heart.
I cried out your name so loudly,
my neighbors thought I had lost you
in the night. Partly they were right,
because you had left my life,
leaving a big hole in my soul.
I held your photograph throughout
the night, as I admired the face I would
never touch and caress ever again.
I applied your favorite lavender-scented
perfume on myself, that you had forgotten
as you left hurriedly from my presence.
Carefully I touched and smelled the spot
that your body lay, before you left me cold.
I know you will take time to open this mail;
probably months. You are the best thing
that has ever happened to me.
If you are reading this mail, be certain
that I am no longer part of your existence.
You are free and welcome to visit my memorial
service next month, at my folk's place.....
