Brilliant Pink Flares
No longer squinting
I contemplate
the yellow-red ball
on the blue horizon
It dips toward its denouement
shedding a ray of light
a degree of warmth
between ticks of the clock...
Its ghost sends up
brilliant pink flares ~
O, ache, my heart!
Like them, my hopes
fade into the dusk
