Breathless
I walked the road, when it cracked beneath me
I was swallowed momentarily, by hot pavement
Stuck in crevices, questioning what to do
Trapped by long reaching actions of others
I climbed out once again, to keep on walking
Now, with sore feet, lost, wondering about time
There is always a timing for important events
Enduring days of waiting, trying, fighting on…
Without it happening, as it must, as it will
I’ll be pretty worn down, by the time it does
But, some things take much sacrifice in life
For many miles, years, days, and minutes
- Not until then -
Will every breath I took, every step I walked,
- Bring me life when I am breathless –
