Breathing Death
Slowly they come breathing death
upon the warmth of sunrise,
clouds - fear’s oily, ominous clouds.
Cowering beneath a threadbare dawn
each breath a life’s challenge
exhaled in a muted defiance.
Billowy doubts asking their questions
obscuring the light of reason
self imposed blindness seeking vision
lost in suffocation’s breathing death.
