Brave Intentions

If mem'ry was paper
Were pens as sharp as swords
Writers would be soldiers
Pure poets likely lords

If poets starve on streets
Warriors slay the hordes
Greed often slaughters souls
Death strums its chilling chords

If fields have bodies strewn
Those thought to win the prize
Dead dreams forever fall
Their courage not to rise

If lords plot ploys for spoils
Though brave hearts wage the fight
At dawn dust does settle
Victors blind by the light

If rulers feign fake claims
To get their willful way
Then brave heads see the truth
When mindsets will not sway

If dreams do make some sense
As dark turns into day
Each morn as we wake up
Trust what the brave ones say
