Boys by river

By the river, near a tree so tall,
Little boys gather, having a ball.
Skipping stones with a splash and a cheer,
Laughing loud as the ducks draw near.
The tree stands strong with branches wide,
A perfect spot for them to hide.
They climb up high and swing on a vine,
In the shade of leaves, they feel just fine.
The river flows with a gentle hum,
As boys shout, “Come on, let's run!”
They race and play till the sun dips low,
By the riverbank where cool winds blow.
Under the tree, they dream and scheme,
Of sailing boats down the river's gleam.
With muddy boots and hearts so free,
The boys make memories by the tree.
