Born With Stone-Chips In My Ancient Viking Blood

Born With Stone-Chips In My Ancient Viking Blood I stand against the world and its most evil wrongs Born with stone-chips in my ancient Viking blood My greatest heroes immortalized in great songs As they eliminated those of barbaric crude All had magical shields and a flaming hot sword Words given to them by higher power beings Enough victorious battles as not to be bored And illumination from Heaven for their seeing Achilles hero, was one of greater fable fame His life was destined to die as a brave man All of this world has now learned his noted name So many more heroes had such amazing plans Life is so massive, history tells not the all Vast armies of such evil dastardly ruffians Marched, destroy innocent people at last call Only to be stopped by brave feats of Christians. Robert J. Lindley, 6-20-2023 16 verse sonnet Note- I have both Viking and Native American blood in my veins. Each had fantastic warriors of great renown. And there is German, Irish, English, Danish blood too....And Scotish blood too....

"Life is so massive, history tells not the all" So true Robert. I found myself reading your sonnet with added gusto and with a 'strong' emphasis on certain words because of its very wording, structure and theme. I think your first line (defiant in tone) set me on this path. Lovely work! I bet your family tree is fascinating. Although British, I recently researched my family tree back to 1750 Milan, Italy and Lausanne Switzerland. Cheers - Gary

It’s no wonder you were pretty wild in your youth, Robert. It’s in your bloodlines… and you turned into quite the proper charming gentleman. Great Sonnnet.

Love the footnote! Mine is Iroquois, Seneca Indians…the people of the longhouse. No Viking blood but my son-in-law, perhaps, with his red hair, bow and arrows, etc.. Love “Achilles hero.” Love the unexpected…instead of heal.very nice, Robert! Keep writing!

Wow, Seneca. Those were people the more civilized tribes. Seneca women were noted for their beauty. You my friend have a good bloodline. God bless.
