Birth of Ruby

Uterine contractions growing stronger, Cramps and aches getting referred to her lower limbs, Quivering voice occasionally letting out screams, Rivers of tears flowing down her pale cheeks. Sweat droplets studded on her skin, Every sound reaching her eardrums growing weak, She gasped, courage draining, ready to quit. Breathing in buoyant breaths, Filled with bountiful joys about her little one, She strived again and again, Until she birthed the ruby of her life. Inexplicable joy flushed across her face, Holding her daughter in her arms, as tender as a fresh bud. Journeying from being born a daughter to becoming a mother, This day was another milestone in her life. Multifarious fears and questions began to arise in her mind, Would societal pressures and burden of expectations crush her daughter's life? But the resurfacing thought that her daughter would rise above all and make a mark of her own, Carved on her lips, an empowering smile. She repeatedly reminded herself - A daughter is a reason of celebration each day. A daughter is a precious gift for the world to cherish. A daughter is nothing less but equal to a son. She is capable enough to mould herself into any role she chooses to be in. She shall be the author of every page of her life. Soaring high up, she shall achieve every goal she sets eyes on, Beyond the hindering wall of society's expectations. A daughter is and shall be much more.
