secured in place upon painted seat spokes crisscross at its heart neither useful positioned to gain dismissed attention the 'art', of course, is a parody of itself named a 'readymade' a concept - to make you think we all need that as we run without rims upended we are not a concept built all wrong or all right people might scoff as I talk about a seat and a bicycle wheel spend time observing it and reflecting I need to still my heart so direct my focus considering spaces between spokes over 100 years ago this photo, absent of background who made that decision that the backdrop isn't part of the art? dirt on the legs shows there was a before or a carefully crafted impression of one through squinted eyes is any frame adequate to make a whole? in on the joke or part of it I don't know, but it's thinking fodder as long as Monsieur Duchamp never tried to sell it to me then I'll allow him head space rent-free as I compare supports to ladders reassemble the vision recognise the wheel atop won't steady my climb that seat will be part of a set prior to that it was raw wood a tree a seed a future event there are so many points to become something I've less to say now those parts don't long for what might have been nor recognise they've come a long way this is just a moment part of a very long time we won't crash and burn if forced to be still whilst atom by atom becoming something else all those shed pieces disappear and we are what is left

The photo looks like art that isn't art. I don't believe I would buy the wheel in a stool, but your poem elevates it. It's a lovely poem.

Yes it's pointing out that art can be ridiculous, not a chance I'd buy it but lots of nonsense that gets air time can be interesting to ponder.

I looked up this Duchamp readymade piece Dilly, apparently it was a protest against the excessive importance attached to works of art, which in itself makes a lot of sense, I’m sure the seat and wheel had more important deliberate purpose, before they were assembled together, for a different purpose, love the way you let your mind wander through this piece, which culminates in an inevitable conclusion, (we are what is left) Ain’t we just, You are totally fearless in your posts, cheers David

Yay! Longest reply in history see you have got real charisma; No I won’t be buying one either, for the simple reason I could make one of these in no time whatsoever, maybe even incorporate a (Lake) for good measure too, lol!

With these ekphrasis I just run with whatever piques my interest, sometimes regardless of intent. I've always been tempted to think a lot of the assumptions about the intelligence in art and literature was likely made up after the event. To some degree it doesn't matter. I was looking through a book on modern art with my daughter and one lauded piece is a blue piece of paper stuck to a white one called Lake (I think) - we just have to decide what we want from art - pretty pictures, emotional response or cause to think. There's definitely a lot of questionable creations included which makes me look to the artist and their charisma to have got away with it. What is meaning anyway? Haha. It's less fearless and more suiting myself. I appreciate your comment - I'm sure I could write what I like and sales of this would not rise. I'm certainly not going to buy one lol :)
