Beyond the Ripples
She has become too sad to smile
A broken heart made her laughter cease
She'll walk by the water for a while
And let her thoughts find peace
Ducklings waddle up to her
Expecting to get a treat
But she has no food to offer
Just the sad look of defeat
She tosses a small stone into the pond
And watches as the ripples spread afar
Her thoughts have floated beyond
The ripples, a broken heart does leave its scars...
