Beyond the Ripples

She has become too sad to smile A broken heart made her laughter cease She'll walk by the water for a while And let her thoughts find peace Ducklings waddle up to her Expecting to get a treat But she has no food to offer Just the sad look of defeat She tosses a small stone into the pond And watches as the ripples spread afar Her thoughts have floated beyond The ripples, a broken heart does leave its scars...

Oh, Joseph, I can feel the sadness in this. I like the line about the ducklings waddling up to her. I could picture that. Hugs :)
