The silent street in evening shade Glistening wet with shallow puddles Where a frightened dog drinks And runs A hand in his neck, constrained A guide without compromise Bypassers glance without seeing Avoidant There are no questions, they left aeons ago, in a life near forgotten with voices barely remembered and laughter His humanity does not exist here In the twilight zone between man and boy At an age other children play with dolls or bears And his is a world beyond tears or hope A world where only peers exist with the same emptiness in their eyes and pain *** February 27, 2017 © Darren White

No child should endure this. It is a sad reality. I hope as more people become aware of this sad fact, we can find more ways to end it. <3

Dark, unsavory, and extremely depressing as it is real. It carries a sense of “normal” depression too, something lots of younger folks feel.

This is so sad Darren. It is sickening that it is reality. Our new President has said he will put something in place to try to help combat the disgusting and horrific practice of human trafficking, but was criticized for saying so. I guess it's not important to everyone.

Anything to make the pain visible and understood. There are good resources, but that goes beyond our poetry site. This subject is hard for me to talk about.

Thank you Tim. For what it's worth, THIS is the group of young boys I would like to give everything I own to, if I ever owned anything... My dream is a house large enough, a bank account large enough. And no more tears and pain inside.
