Betting On Bat-W

An idiot plays in middle with a bat His eyes fixed on a bookie’s bet Eleven fools attacking Two listless fools standing *Thousands of fools watching cricket. *Inspired by George Bernard Shaw’s comments “One fool playing and thousands watching him” but have extended it with present day perspective. ======================================================= Fifth place winner Contest: Let's Limerick by Linda Marie, the Sweetheart of PS

Great and beautiful write for those who do not know and play cricket but a sad one for those who are mad for it. You have very beautifully sketched the reality of this game. Incidentally, I am not its great fan but sometimes I love it too. Thanks. I have placed a new form of Poetry on PS. I would welcome your valuable comments on this new form of Poetry in English. It is a Kawaali in English. Hope you would like it. Love and best wishes....Ravindra.....Dr. Ram Mehta

I used to watch people playing in the park near my home. People have tried to explain it to me but I still don't get it. It's sobering to learn that there are those who "throw" games of cricket just like they do in other sports. Your poem is a well done commentary on the game. Peace and Blessings Matthew Anish
