I remember the original poem and this is a fine way to pay tribute to a great American. We need more leaders who will fight for the rights of the common man. Well done, John! Been missing you as I move. After tomorrow morning, I'll have no internet service until Wednesday. Hope you are doing well. Love you, dear! Carolyn

Here where i live in St. Louis there i a Walmart on the south side of town. One day i had to work behind it and i saw the graves of soldiers. and there was one pick up with a man looking at a grave. i saw the rolling hill and it was beautyful. . the walmart just happened to be on top of the hill. and i wrote about it as i was there. if you ever want to see it. and see what i saw. cross the river from illinois on the south side and the first walmart you get to go behind it. and you'll see. jhl

sounds like Arlington? not sure what it had to do with walmart? nice verse marking and end but without the title I'd think it was a generic poem about those who have served. I bet I'm missing something? Light & Love

Is there a Walmart near Arlington Cemetery? How awful ... LOL ... thanks for your recent comment on my writing, John. Been awhile since I've heard from you or been to see your writing. Too many folks here at the Soup!! I just spent the whole day glued to C-span and MSNBC and certainly watched what will probably be the last Kennedy pagentry I'll see in my lifetime ... thanks for this write!!

Such a heartfelt, moving poem.....a reminder that tears are being shed, up on the hill....while the rest of us go on with our everyday errands...spending an hour at Wal Mart. Such reality spoken in this touching poem. ~ love, Carrie
