you put on your best face everyday for everyone you greet them all with the warmest smile anyone has ever seen the joy in your voice is resounding we’d swear you were the happiest person alive not many really know what is going on inside it’s not all that pretty and tears are shed but only alone in isolation when behind you you’ve shut the door and hung up your plastic smile you’re free to drop your disguise and feel an emptiness too difficult to bear you don’t share that pain with many why give it strength that’s your way to control it lasso it and not let it consume you the joy you bring to others is your way of fighting back and hanging on until tomorrow AP: 3rd place 2020, Honorable Mention 2020 Posted on January 11, 2019

Line, this is so many many many many of us: "but only alone in isolation when behind you you’ve shut the door and hung up your plastic smile" Society is so fearful of the real. which is probably why we write.
