Beg I Light, That This Heart and Soul May See

Beg I Light, That This Heart And Soul May See Sorrow have you become my only friend As your morbid touch decays heart's true fires Shall your beast - death, grant release in the end Forbid joyful dreams and that which so inspires Seal this soul to therein darkness descend Into abyss, where blackness never tires? Dare I beg of the sun's bright golden rays That which as yet prayers have not gained Illumination that casts dark away Bleaching white youthful years that were stained Relief sparsely given that fails to stay Setting course that life has now so pained? Pray tell, shall this life ever blessings yield Shall I race forth into eternity Or perish as do flowers in the field With no more than a glimpse at infinity Fighting as knight with neither sword or shield Die not finding peaceful serenity? Nay, such failure cannot ever so be Our souls were created by divine hands Man did not simply emerge from black seas Instead was meant to rule these earthen lands Not by tears, or pitiful begging pleas Rather with true faith, life's travails withstand! Date: December 6th, 2020 Inspiration found. SilentOne's Catharsis Poetry Contest Contest Description Catharsis is the process of releasing strong or pent-up emotions through art. Aristotle coined the term catharsis—which comes from the Greek kathairein meaning "to cleanse or purge"—to describe the release of emotional tension that he believed spectators experienced while watching dramatic tragedy.

Thank you my friend. That one must now ever seek brighter light in this dark world that is so full of lies is a reality. That only light , truth and faith can overcome the wicked streams that overflow in this ever increasing evil world. Such insight so many fail to ever find or accept. Yet it is the truth of it and a poet must acknowledge truth... God bless my friend....

Your last stanza is so spiritual and filled with self evident truth...and the truth shall set thee free, my dear friend. Writing is your passion and your salvation, my dear friend. ~ Love and light to you and your family, dear Robert. ~ Elaine

Thank you my friend. * From within the darkness a light did shine. *Its golden glow, a treasure, a dear prize. * From poet's huge heart verses that define.* The truth-seeking that opens blinded eyes. * In that search, in that path- light that prevails. *Sword and shield to defeat world's evil host. * From a distant church sweetest sounding bells. *Ships returning safely to their home coasts. God bless....

Thank you my friend. We are mere flesh and bones in this world but our souls are destined for another. Our spirit constantly reminds us of that reality --that destination, if we but choose it.
