Beets

Beets reign as my taste-ache food They are gross to chew No matter how they are cooked I cannot be hooked Urged, I leave or heave A beet dose - Gross!

I actually like beets - boiled, skinned and then pickled and chilled. It's the only way to eat 'em! Congrats on the win, CayCay. Well done.

I think very few have written one on the dish one despises. You have done it and done beautifully and convincingly. Congratulations Cay Cay on your great win.

I'm on the side of "not really". That said, I have had some wonderful authentic homemade borscht.

Linda, my grandmother used to make borscht. My uncle loved it and used to ear three bowls of it. It was yummy.

LOL- I hated beets. Then I made a beet salad with cold sliced beets, added some sliced red onion thin, added halved black olives, Extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, oregano, salt & pepper...and now I love 'em! Best wishes in the contest!

Love everything you put with the beets! Wonder what possessed you to make that when beets held no real appeal for you to begin with. I'm always curious! Thanks for not reading bird poem and for commenting on this one. Appreciate you. CayCay

I'm with you CayCay! Red beets are gross! That being said, I recently ordered a salad that had golden beets in it and I have to say they were quite yummy!!! I still dislike the red, slimy beets but golden beets are now a different story! They weren't slimy without that musty taste!!! Best wishes for the contest! Blessings!

They do have a different flavor. Try them cooked, then honey glazed.

Me, too, what a word, huh? We should check websters. Yes, Dad, I know they are healthy but I can't even put them in my mouth to spit into a napkin so I will sit here until bedtime. Good to see you, Anaya and thanks, CayCay Back to say Epulaeryu isn't in Websters.

I have a limited taste for beets. I like them from the can and better cold, and not often. They were good with a certain food, my mom made, as n accompaniment. I see your beet distaste is deeply rooted ;)

I can relate to this, I’ve never really liked beets either and your description makes the dislike feel very real.

Excellent. You went with one you detested! Have you ever tried them with special sauce? That's the only way I can eat them. For me the grossest are asparagus, broccoli (unless in a creamy cheese soup), kale and artichokes, things like that. Oh and that nasty cauliflower!

oh my, you love all those crappy veggies!! I only like lettuce, carrots, celery, water chestnuts, spinach, onions , peas and green beans (in store cans, not from garden), and all manner of potatoes and corn. of course the ones least nutritious of course!

No, I will not try them with a sauce, I wouldn't even try them for a special boss - My Dad! I love every veg you find gross! CayCay
